This section is designed to help you make sound decisions about subject choices in Year 9. Most people are keen to keep their options open at this stage. It is important to avoid dropping a subject that you may later need for your preferred career.

In Year 9 you will decide which subjects you will study in Years 10 and 11. There are some subjects you must study. These include English, Maths, Science, a modern foreign language, Design and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Physical Education and Citizenship.

You may be allowed to drop up to two subjects from Design and Technology, Science and a foreign language, in order to take a programme of work-related training.

There will be some extra subjects for you to choose from. They are likely to include things you have not studied before. Before making your choice you will need to find out as much as you can about each 'extra' subject. <more>
